RUSEP joins The Alliance

RUSEP was granted ordinary membership status with the Alliance of NGOs on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (The Alliance) on April 9, 2023, marking a significant milestone in our work. We pledge to contribute to global discussions and solutions on drugs and crime, as well as to learn and adapt best intervention approaches.

Constructive Dialogue on Firearms 2023

The first phase of the 2023 Constructive Dialogues for the Review Mechanism of the UN Convention against Transnational Organized Crime (UNTOC) and the Protocols thereto took place in Vienna on May 5th 2023 where RUSEP's Executive Director, Nelson Salagano, had the privilege to participate in the conversation. The event convened non-governmental organizations, representatives of the private sector and academia to discuss the procedure and rules for the functioning of UNTOC and the Protocols thereto, which was adopted through Resolution 9/1 by the Conference of the Parties to UNTOC.

On May 9th 2023, #Nashiriki plan, Kenya unveils a steering committee in an intergovernmental/Multi stakeholders meeting on refugee management policy geared to ensure integration and peaceful coexistence between refugees and host communities

Rural-Urban Social Empowerment Program

The Rural-Urban Social Empowerment Program (RUSEP) is an apolitical organization that addresses issues of Human Development, Security, and Inclusion of marginalized people. It is established to operate in Kenya with an aim of protecting the rights, supporting, and transforming the lives of vulnerable youth, women, children, and refugees.

Our Programs

Children and Youth Protection from Crime and Drug Abuse Program

Seeks to curb systemic assimilation of children into all forms of armed violence as well as hard drug abuse and trade, while inversely increasing their social, economic, and political empowerment.

Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons Empowerment Program

Focuses on community reintegration and improving skills that will lead to self-reliance, as well as ensuring refugees’ participation and representation on issues core to their survival and well-being.

Female Protection, Health, and Sanitation Program

Is designed to bridge the gender empowerment gap while addressing the unique challenges of women in the aforementioned programs.

RUSEP Institute

The institute is set in place to ensure RUSEP’s activities and effectiveness thereof are well informed and anchored on empiricism.
